Foamies always means something is stuck. Some people think it's dumping. Just stuck. It's horrible, and just takes a little time to pass.

But we learn a good lesson!

Maria27, are you waiting long enough before you take your thyroid meds? I have Hashimoto's disease and take 137mcg of Levothyroxine (daily), and have been for several years now. I wait two hours before taking ANY vitamin and or mineral supplement, and before eating (or drinking anything bu****er). Talk to your pharmacist, they know more about med interactions than your doctor does, and there are a lot of great websites dedicated to autoimmune diseases. Hope this helps.

Effects of other substances

Certain medications, supplements and some foods may affect your ability to absorb levothyroxine. However, taking levothyroxine at least four hours before or after other medications could remedy the problem. Talk to your doctor if you eat large amounts of soy products or a high-fiber diet or if you take any of the following:

  • Iron supplements, including multivitamins that contain iron
  • Cholestyramine (Prevalite), a medication used to lower blood cholesterol levels
  • Aluminum hydroxide, which is found in some antacids
  • Sodium polystyrene sulfonate (Kayexalate), used to prevent high blood potassium levels
  • Sucralfate, an ulcer medication
  • Calcium supplements

Thanks for responding. I wait at least 4 hours to take calcium, iron, and multivitamins, and I try to wait an hour to eat. But my understanding is that it is OK to take other supplements at the same time. The biggest conerns are iron, calcium, and soy.
