Chap stick and a CPap if you have one also your phone/iPad charger.  That's it. They don't want you to bring a lot of stuff. Take your jewelry off at home. My hospital actually now supplies the c/bipap machines. I just tell them the setting.

They want me to bring only my mask, but I don't honestly KNOW the setting on my machine-any suggestions for figuring it out?

The hospital will provide almost everything you will need ( toothpaste, lotion, deodorant, shampoo).  You won't feel like doing much.  I brought a bunch of books and magazines and never picked one up.  Bring a good pair of slippers that are easy to walk in.  Walking a lot will help relieve the gas pain.  Lip balm and Biotene are a must.  Your mouth will feel so dry.  Bring a pillow to hold on your stomach for the ride home.  The car bouncing is really painful.  If that pillow is the one you sleep on, great!  The pillows at the hospital SUCK.  You will sleep much better on your own pillow.  Remember... anything you bring will have to be hauled home again.  Less is better.

Good Luck!!!

I only brought my phone with me, the drains in prevented me from changing clothes easily and the hospital provided me with everything I needed. Pack light! You aren't going to feel like doing a whole bunch of anything.

I took ear plugs and a sleeping mask (which I forgot in the car). I had a roommate that was in quite a lot of pain from a knee replacement and was up every hour through the night. The ear plugs were great because there was a lot of noise, and I wanted to nap so much. I just wish I had remembered the mask :)

I took a new fluffy pillow and pillow case  because hospital pillows were not comfortable ,   a small velvet blanket which I was so happy I had  something to curl up in when  I seeked quiet and comfort ,   also  crocks for  my feet in the shower room , these were the things I most appreciated

I brought my memory foam pillow for the bed, chapstick, phone, charger, and baggy clothes to go home in. It wasn't until I went to put on underwear to go home that I realized just how swollen I was from all the fluids. Thus my suggestion for BAGGY clothing if you can! Brought my kindle because I thought I would be really bored and would want to read my book, but with the anesthesia, I couldn't focus my eyes on a screen well enough to actually read. Hospital will provide gowns, non-slip socks, showering/hygiene stuff.

I was really happy I had my bathrobe with me.  It's big and fluffy and was comforting plus it was nice not feeling exposed when I took my walks.  I only stayed over night so there wasn't much time to need anything.  I couldn't really even stay awake longer than 10 minutes at a time after surgery until very late in the day.  Hope it all goes well for you!!

I second the suggestion for ear plugs.  Hospitals are not the place to sleep!
