I'm 14 days post op and ready for my fruits! I blended a banana with some oj & greek yogurt this morning. Any other fresh fruits I can eat/blend?

A lot of people here are very careful with their fruits because of the carbs... especially early on. I occasionally eat fruit, but didn't early on. I think eating them with greek yogurt is good, because of the protein. I would skip the OJ, whole fruit is much better for you. I know strawberries are one of the lower carb fruits....

Thanks,  I'll try the strawberries.

1 medium banana (7 inches to 7¾ inches long): 24 grams effective (net) carbohydrate plus 3 grams fiber and 105 calories.

I eat 30 carbs total a day.

A few raspberries to taste aren't bad later on. There are 15 carbs in a who cup of raspberries.

Use google to determine the carbs in things so you can make responsible decisions.

I would never ever eat a banana.

Thanks for your input. I'm seeing the dietician on April 23rd, I hope she can give me some guidance. It's hard when they give you list to go off, and I'm playing the guessing game.

Even at 5 1/2 years out, I am careful with fruit. I do eat it most days, but half a banana, half an apple, or a small orange does it for me. I occasionally go a bit more generously with strawberries if I get fresh picked!

juice is a highly concentrated source of calories and fructose, so my doc strongly advised against it - forever.

And OJ is just sugar. A regular coke would be just as healthy.

Before you eat anything look up the calories and glycemic index.  You are going to slow your weight loss significantly by eating bananas.  For the first year, I only allowed myself strawberries and blueberries.  After year two I started having an occasional apple.  At over seven years out, I do eat fruit but if I need to lose any weight, fruit is the first thing to go.  It is sugar and carbs and that equals weight gain for me.

Ate almost no fruit (and absolutely no fruit juice) my first year.  Even now I rarely eat it.  Way too many carbs.  There are other ways to get vitamin C.

I can't understand why a responsible, trained nutritionist/dietician would recommend OJ and bananas during this phase of potentially fast weight loss.

I haven't met with the dietician, April 23rd is my visit. I'm trying to work with the "list" of foods they gave me.  Light canned fruit, my question is what kind?  Lol a bit frustrating.  Before i left the hospital,  the dietician actually told me no protein shakes or protein product added to any of my food.
