Hello everyone.

I need some help to make it through this learning phase. Can anyone provide me with puree suggestions?  How did you guys make it through? Open to all ideas.

Check out Eggface's site.  She has a section "Pureed Foods" and her recipes are great.  Just about everyong raves about her Ricotta Bake -- it's delicious.  She also has a great selection of Protein Shake recipes.

Hang tough -- you'll be on to "real food" soon -- and Eggface has great recipes there too (like Eggbites and mini-meatloaves).

Congratulations on your surgery, and good luck!

I used my favorite canned soups;  minestrone, etc. (but clam chowder was too much like vomit.Sorry, TMI , I know).  Once I blenderized the soup, heated it and let it cool a bit, I'd add about 2 Tblspoons of plain unflavored protein powder and stir it in well.  My surgeon said to make sure the pieces of food were about the size of an eraser and I chewed well. Never had a problem with it.

Don't be afraid to explore food choices.

One thing I wish when I went through the puree stage. I wish I bought a Magic bullet. I use mine now. Eggface is a great place to look like someone else said.

I found a lot of different pureed soups at Trader Joe's.  Most are quart sized so way too much but I liked the variety.  I froze a sot of them to use later.  I agree with earlier posters about the Eggface site!  It is still an inspiration.

smart idea on the freezing. I was not half as brilliant.

That could have made the phase even MORE fun.  I liked the puree phase.

Your list is impressive, my dr. gave me a strict list. How did you know your stomach would take to this food? Did a nutritionist assist you?

I'm basically on yogurt, soup, applesauce and pudding.

I was pretty much allowed to eat anything as long as it was pureed.  My nut told me to eat slowly (which I did) and if something bothered me to revisit it a month later (which I did in the case of eggs).  I didn't know if things would bother me before I tried them - but I wasn't going to know unless I tried :)

And I couldn't have taken another 2 weeks of not cooking for/eating with my family.

puree phase was my fave. I still try to eat puree (inadvertantly).

Anything babyfood (I love gerber prunes)

For meats/protein i had scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, egg salad, deviled eggs, wonderful canned tuna, wonderful canned chicken.

I made bean burrito filling with ff refried beans, black bean(chew well, they will puree in your mouth) and taco sauce.

This is a great phase! Just be creative

Also.if you get/can handle carbs, how about yogurht?
