Surgery on 4/20
New here, but I've been lurking for months. I will be having a RNY on Monday, 4/20 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. I'm excited to finally be doing this. I've been a type 2 diabetic for the past 10 years and have been lucky enough not to have to go on insulin, but it's catching up with me and this is what I need to do so I can put the diabetes in remission and lose the weight once and for all. I've tried all kinds of diets in the past including Weigh****chers and Jenny Craig only to regain the weight plus more.
Thanks to you all, I have a better idea of what is in store for me after surgery. I look forward to joining you on the losers bench.
Congrats!! My mom had her RNY there in 2006. Dr. Shakura. I wish you well! xoxo

Good luck to you!! I am in Mass too! I had my surgery in Fall River. I also am a type 2 diabetic and was giving myself 5 shots of insulin a day...since I came home I have only had to use insulin twice and it was only one unit each time versus the sometimes 15 units before. I am so glad I made the decision to do it! You will be just in time for nice weather!!! Keep us updated!

Good luck, there will be a ton of people celebrating for you in Denver
I hope your diabetes does go into remission, but please know that this doesn't happen for everyone - it really depends on several factors, including how long you have been diabetic. One thing though, losing weight and being healthy does help keep it under control!
