Stopping weight loss after RNY

I know this probably sounds ridiculous to most. I am 2 years out and have lost a total of 156lbs, literally half of me. So I am now 5'8 and 154lbs with a BMI of 23.4. I REALLY do not want to lose another pound. To be honest I'm borderline rail thin, bones sticking out. I am eating as much as a I can and still continue to lose. I have been told by women whom have had the surgery and regained an average of 30lbs to be careful because I'm still in the honeymoon stage. What do you think?

It's a little scary, isn't it?

Try adding another very small meal to your daily intake.  A cup of nf Fage with some fruit, A slice of turkey/swiss rollup with mustard, a high-protein (not high sugar) protein bar.

Do this addon for a week or so and see what happens.  You might even need to do it for a month, and keep track of your weight weekly.  Don't weigh daily, you change too much with liquid in/out, food in/out.

Good luck.

They are wise women - listen to them ...     If you get below a BMI of 18, you need to worry - anything higher than that is nothing to worry about - your body will find it's comfort point on its own.    Can't tell you how many people I have seen put themselves into maintenance or attempt to gain a few pounds, only to find a few of their uninvited friends join them!

My honeymoon ended at 30 months and I went from 128 to 142 with no changes in what I was eating.  My body learned how to absorb more calories.  This is caused because the intestines grow more of the hairlike structures called villi.  They act like little fingers to grab food and hold it against the wall of the intestines so that more can be absorbed.

Once that happens it is pretty normal to gain back twenty pounds.  Many gain back thirty.  My advise is to enjoy the experience of being too skinny and realize that it is just a stage.  Your body will recover from the surgery.  It is very common to see people too skinny during the second year after surgery.  It is almost impossible to find someone who is three years out and still too skinny.

I have nightmares where I get fat again.  The statement "It is almost impossible to find someone who is three years out and still too skinny." just kills me and sends ice-water like fear into my veins.

I know you are telling the truth, but damn, I like this weight taht I am at 1.4 months out. It kills me to think things are going to start going "back to hell" again.

I am prepared to do a Heidi and eat only once a day if I have to.

I feel joyous like a prisoner that just got out of jail right now. I dont want to back though. i have tremendous fear of going back.

Harsh much. Sends ice water through your veins. Really?

Apparently war, famine, pestilence, global warming, and a variety of social ills pale in the face of regain for that person who gets an ice-water feeling in the veins.

Where do you think I am being harsh.

I am afraid and nervous about the rebound. I don't know where you get "harshness" out of it.

There are so many ways people read posts. I felt that what you said was kind of like oh I wish I was you. Like envious of her to still be losing weight.

I am sorry if I offended you. It can be scary to think about regain.

Yep. It is scarey to think about the regain. But I do. Because it has happened to me in the past.

Right now, things are going along well. But my body has turned against me in the past and to think that it is sort of intrinsic to the surgery (i.e. increased villi density over time) just makes me jumpy and perhaps hyperviligent.
