I just had my surgery Monday, so I am obviously not going back yet, but how long were you off? I have a desk job and really feel like I could go back next week. I wont see the doctor until next Tuesday but I am curious how long before you went back.

Two weeks off.  I started checking emails the second week and went back full time the following week.

My surgeon advised, and I took that advice, that I not return to work for 4 weeks.  He said that after 2 weeks I would be pretty much healed, but the additional 2 weeks was to concentrate on learning how to eat post-rny in a controlled environment.  I was lucky that I could take that time at home, and I am glad that I did.  Eating during that time felt like a full time job.  I did do a lot of work from home in the second two weeks, email and conference calls mostly.

Was back in a week.  But I had to stay at my desk... tried teaching (I lecture at a college) and nearly fell over.

I had my surgery on 3/25 and went back to work on 3/30. I work from home so that obviously helps :)

I had RNY on 3/4 and will be off an entire six weeks.  I will go back on the 15th of April.  It was advised to the group that I was in that if we had the time and could take the time to do a full six weeks.  I really am glad that I was able to save up the sick leave at work, I am a night shift nurse and I do not think I would have been ready any sooner than that.  I have days when I do not want to deal with anything, but those are few and far between.  At two weeks out, I was still an emotional wreck, thinking "WHAT DID I DO TO MYSELF?"  Thankfully, am adjusting a bit better now.
