Excited for Synchro Try-outs and adult skating day; Just doing stuff for me...

Hi Gang,

On this WLS/weight loss journey, I have learned several things about myself.  One is that I am a stress eater (i.e. when the moment is tense, I want to munch and crunch) and another is that I don't spend enough time for myself recharging. It seems like I am always working, cleaning, or doing SOMETHING to appease someone else.

Part of my journey is learning to tell other's "No" and be able to withstand the look of disappointment on their faces. For example, sunday was palm sunday and the bell choir I was in rang for it (just the processional).  It is also end of quarter. To meet my quotas and stay on track, I HAD to work sunday voluntarily.  Of course, one choir member totally comments when she sees me sneaking out from church that I should stay because it is such a nice service.

I had to tell "Nope. Gotta go. Gotta get stuff done because I have other obligations I must meet later this week."

One of these "obligations" is a "skate with us" for adult synchronized skating.  I guess it is like a tryout?  Anyway, I want to see what it is all about. I have learned that I dont use all my vacation either... I took today off from work to skate with my coach today from 11.30- noon and then later I will head off to Richmond to skate with other adults.

I am excited to see people my own age, all congregated and skatign together.  I don't expect to make the team (it has been 20 years since I have seriously skated) but it IS fun to get back into an old beloved hobby!

I just had to tell someone.  I figured you guys would understand. My experience was that as I got more and more obese, I could do less and less. Yes, I worked out. Yes, I hiked. But as a MO person, I would be less likely to do a rock scramble and etc.

It is so nice to get hobbies BACK rather than lose them.

Thanks!  Already had tons of fun this morning with the new skating coach!  She is testing me from basic 1 on up. So far, she has told me that I better get new skates because it looks like I am going to land somewhere in the Freestyles with the teenagers!  Yay!

Thanks cari!  I am in richmond now enjoying a cup of tea and some icky work. Today has already been fun!  I feel so blessed every time I get to do something that I USED to be able to do before I became MO.  I can only imagine it is somewhat similar to what a cancer patient who fought hard and then subsequently gets the REMISSION diagnosis!  "Free at last !!  Free at last!!!  Wooo hoo!!!"
