My SIL is having Easter dinner, ham and turkey.  Need to make something to take and I can not think of anything good, low fat and sugar to take..a side and dessert.  Any ideas?

Cheesecakes are always easy to make sugar free, and some sliced strawberries, and it is a beautiful dessert. Side dish? There are a million veggies dishes out there... Asparagus steamed with lemon and butter. Skip the carbs and allow some more fats for the Holiday, it will do less damage. There are a few in here that might work.

Yum, steamed asparagus!  Put some vinaigrette dressing over it, serve it either hot or cold.  Swoon.

For Easter, we always make roasted asparagus.  It is so delicious, with great texture as well, and everyone loves it.  I hardly ever consult the recipe, so the amounts here are my guess.

Jumbo asparagus, cleaned and bottom ends trimmed off (1 large Costco size bunch, or 2 grocery store bunches)

1 large onion, peeled.  Cut in half, then cut the halves into crescent slices about 1/4" thick

3 large garlic cloves, peeled and  cut in thin slices

3-4 Tblsp extra virgin olive oil

salt to taste, start with 3/4 tsp

pepper to taste, start with 1/4 tsp

Heat oven to 400.  mix olive oil, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.  Place asparagus, onion slices, and garlic slices in gallon-size ziplock bag. Pour oil mixture into the bag.  Close bag and shake shake shake.  Spread out onto a large cookie sheet.

Roast in 400 oven for 20 min.  After 10 min, take out baking sheet and stir asparagus mixture on the sheet, or at least wiggle it around, to promote even roasting.  Then return to oven for final 10 min.

In a hurry, you can use onion powder and garlic powder instead of the fresh onion and garlic.

I do something very similar with asparagus.  Everything you said, except I leave out the onion and sprinkle a little parm cheese on top before roasting.  Delicious!  My family does a brunch instead of dinner, and it works equally well for that meal.

I usually make potato salad made with cauliflower instead.

I think sugar free cheese cakes are alright but no fat/no sugar is kinda grim tasting.

I usually don't make dessert in my home. I will pick up something at the grocery store bakery that doesn't look great to me but I know my people like.
