17 day stall

OK.. my story, had RNY 01/26/15, revision from sleeve 02/02/12.  Lost 24 pre-o******ce.  My doc said the practice likes their patients to lose on average 2-lbs a week for revision patients.  I am 2 months out today.  I know about the stall... READ all about it.  I get on average 80-90gr protein and 90-100oz fluid a day.  I know I am only 1lb shy of being on track for 8 weeks post op.  I have been given the green light by the doc for all foods but corn and tough skin on fruit and to exercise as much as I can.  I've been fighting a cold/bad chest congestion so haven't made it to the gym in awhile.  Can't breath, cough is horrible, feels like someone is sitting on my chest at times.  I do get about 75-100gr of carb per day.  Dietician wants 40% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fat.   I'm bipolar and my meds specifically need carbs to work... I eat protein every meal, veggies, then starch if still hungry.

I more needed to post to vent/rant about the 17 day stall.....as now that I went back and read and added to I realize that I'm still on track.

I guess I was just hoping to lose 30lbs a month which for me is very Unrealistic.

Thanks for reading.

I would be a bit concerned with the amount of carbs you are eating.  I understand that your meds need the carbs, but if you eat more carbs than protein that may hinder your weight loss and possibly down the road cause regain.   Just something to think about.

Mind if I ask which med you're on? I have BP II, I've taken darn near every psych med out there at one point or another, and I've never heard about the carb-absorption thing.

Effexor.  My doc is very specific on making sure I take in carbs.... not starch, but even fruits and veggies.

Interesting, I'm not seeing anything in the pharma lit on that one. I remember having ridiculous carb cravings when I took it ages ago, I'll have to ask my psychiatrist about it.

Yeah, it's been that way since day one... My doc and NUT both say carbs must be taken with it.

I think you should ask them what they are basing that on.  There is nothing in the manufacturer's literature nor in the PDF saying anything even close to that!  I would hate to see you sabotage your weight loss for some bogus belief that your surgeon has. Perhaps you misunderstood and they are just telling you take them with a small amount of food in order to minimize stomach upset?

I am not a doctor or a pharmacist, but I had to take a psychopharmaceuticals class for my Psych PhD, and we DID discuss things like antidepressants and weight gain (and how most recent studies are showing it isn't the meds that cause the weight gain), the way improper nutrition can contribute to depression and anxiety, etc., and there was nothing about any special dietary considerations for any of the SSRI or SNRI antidepressants.

I'm on Effexor and have not had those instructions and don't remember reading that in the information that came with the script.

I rarely eat fruit, not because I don't like it, but because it really messes with my blood sugar.  I would not be eating a lot of it were I in weight loss mode.  Green or coloured veggies are a freebie in my book.
