GRRR! I'm on day 7 of my liquid diet and have not cheated even once at all. I weigh myself the same time every day and just started that when I started the liquid diet because I wanted to see how that went. I've gained THREE pounds. How is that even possible???? I'm eating soup and jello. And 2 protein drinks a day, and sugar free popsicles - all on the approved list. Now I'm concerned that my liver won't be good for the surgery since that's the whole reason my surgeon does this.

And the goal is also to lose 5% of your weight with the liquid diet and that is definitely not happening. WTF???

It's unlikely you won't be approved for surgery, the point is to "shrink your liver" which a lot of surgeons say isn't really even possible in the short amount of time you're on the liquid diet. Drink more and more water, you might be retaining. Also realize that your body is freaking out because it doesn't know how to handle the lack of food.

The soups may have a lot of sodium in the causing you to retain water.

Good point. Didn't think of that, although I feel like I'm peeing a ton. The soups I'm eating are on the approved list - everything is on the approved list.

My surgeon doesn't require me to lose any amount of weight to have the surgery, so the 5% was just a nice to have. But I have this fear they'll start the surgery and my liver won't be shrunk enough and I'll wake up and it won't have happened. I am a natural worrier so I worry about everything under the sun!!

For me when I was in the 'new' phase, I would gain like 3 pounds and then the next day drop 5. It seems everytime I was about to lose the day before I gained. Just keep doing what you are doing and best wishes
