Tired of hearing people tell me over and over how good I look, etc and I had RNY 3.5 years ago

If someone hasn't seen me in awhile I still get it.... 8+ years out I just say thanks and move on too... but if it's the same people or "friends" I might start branching out in my friendships... sometimes post-op you realize some of the relationships in your life need to go with the pounds lost ;)

At some point it feels like they are just pointing out again and again how bad you looked before more than they are complimenting you on how you look now.

We did look bad. We were fat!   If you can't take a compliment.  Up your carbs and no one will say a thing.

They probably have no idea you hear it often and/or don't like it, and they're just doing it to be kind.

I have friends who are smart, funny, brave, etc., and I admire them for those qualities. But I'll still tell them if I like their shoes or they're having a good hair day.

Some of my friends take great care of themselves and look very good. I often tell them that.

None of them told me that that makes them feel badly.

Maybe you should m ed ntion too people that you rather they don't mention that?  That it makes you but uncomfortable?

Take the comments/compliments in the way they are intended - if someone is being kind, thank them!   It's called manners or social graces.

If they say it in a way that is intended to make you feel bad for how you looked previously, tell them to **** off - they probably won't say it again!

Problem solved!
