I am 6 weeks post op and down 40 lbs..I started journey at 267 and very close to shopping in normal sizes. I know I look better but wonder when those...."oh my gosh, you look so skinny". Lol. ..Anyone remember that moment the first person was in shock about how much you lost?  How much had you lost at that moment?

I started out much heavier than you but for me I would say 75 to 80 pounds. (for people who didn't know I had the surgery) I think what makes a difference is getting new clothes, and wearing clothes that fit....

For me people started to comment at about 40 lbs.

I started at about 258.  It was about 60 pounds before people started to notice.

About 40 lbs and now the comments are almost constant!  It's crazy. When I took new pictures the other day, to me, I looked the same as my before photos. I guess I expected to look "skinny" like people say. Far from skinny but getting there!!

I think we tend to confuse "people noticing" with "people saying something."  I'm sure that people notice relatively quickly if they're observant.  But no one commented on my weight loss until I'd lost over 50 pounds.  (Which was fine by me, I don't think my body should be a topic of conversation unless I initiate the conversation!)

I was 50 lbs down before I started getting comments, but like some others said, it was when I started wearing clothes that fit and were smaller that people really started to notice.  For some reason even when my clothes were literally hanging off of me, no one said anything...it was weird.

I was good with clothes and at making myself look smaller than I was.  Think Spanx and great designer clothes with great fit. There were people who never really noticed.  They would say something like, "You look different, is it a new hairstyle".

Many people are just absorbed in themselves and their size and body and really don't notice others unless it is something very different.  I kept buying clothes that fit well and that kept people from figuring out that I was losing weight.

When they finally caught on, I would just say that I had weight loss surgery to help with Type 2 diabetes and it resulted in the weight loss as well as improving my health.

I hit 50 lbs down this week and people have began to tell me that I am looking well, asking me what I was doing ect. They see me in a bathing suit every day so there is no " covering up" anything. Many of these people saw me at my highest weight last fall.
