Ebay:another magical inexpensive clothing source

Hi Gang,

Several people IRL or on these boards have asked how I bankroll my wardrobe as I go through sizes so quickly.

Previously, I used Goodwill, consignment shops and friends would give clothes that no longer fit them.

Then, synchronistiy (sp...FAte) happened.  Two different people with awesome designer clothes with unique flair (i.e. stylish in a way one just doesnt see often) revealed to me they got their nifty clothes off of ebay inexpensively (i.e. under 30 bucks).  We are talking vintage armani for $17.00

I got a honeymoon coming up and no time to shop (work).  So I gave ebay a whirl.  And so far it has turned out well.  i got a new with tags swimsuit for $17.00 and a new with tags Lauren shirt for $33.00.

At Macy's I couldnt find swim bottoms for less than $24.00.

If you dont mind hand me downs, or sorting through lots of postings. Ebay may be a good way to get some new duds in your new size!

I just posted this the other day! I have fallen in love with ebay! I have fifty six searches set up for designers and ebay notifies me when something new has been posted within my search criteria ( size and price range). This is a cheap and fantastic way to find new cloths for pretty cheap.

How do you set up a search on ebay? Doesn't it worry you that you can't try things on, and can't feel the material?

Thanks!

NO it doesnt. Ralph Lauren's model seems to always fit me.

The Halston and Tahri modesl NEVER fit me right

Hence, I feel confident in buying RL wihtout trying it on..and NEVER will buy Halston or Tahari without trying them on

It's also a great way to fund your new wardrobe. I have sold each size as I have gone down. My 30/32 to 24's paid for all our hotel stays on a 2 month cross country holiday last summer ($1900)!

My 22's to 18's paid for Christmas!

Smaller sizes don't sell as easily, but my 16's to 14's paid a month of my son's tuition.

What great advice!  We all know how hard it is to find plus sizes of good-quality, professional and/or tasteful clothing with a little flair.  Over time, I have purchased some very nice things in plus sizes.  Thanks for the reminder that others will be looking for those very things.

Now is an especially great time to sell coats. It's so hard to find nice coats in larger sizes. I sold all of them at very fair prices. Also, sweetheart and prom is coming up. Formats sell great now, too.  Work clothes I sold in small lots. It really adds up.

I wish I would have known this BEFORE donating a crap load of clothes to good will.

ME TOO!  I gave so many (nice and some new) clothes away! Oh well. My now sunny personality and kind heart, and smaller butt, knows someone was really glad to get them...where ever the church saw fit.  (pun intended!!)  :D
