"Hatchet Face"-what my mom called me.
Oh my goodness -- your mother sounds like one of the most unhappy and hateful people in the world! You are correct that none of her comments have anything to do with you -- it's all about her own unhappiness and self-hatred. She's just chosen you as the whipping boy/girl.
But at this stage of the game, you shouldn't be allowing her to do it anymore. You are a strong, independent (and BEAUTIFUL!) woman. You need to set boundaries with your mom and let her know under no cir****tances is that kind of verbal abuse going to be tolerated any longer. She can either shut up...or get out.
I think being emotionally removed from her (as well as physically) is a very smart self-preservation technique!
Have a wonderful Christmas and a glorious wedding!
:)
Thank you.
And the physical/emotional removal being "the smartest thing I could do" was said by a PASTOR who knows both of us.
I would never have expected a pastor to say something like that...but he surprised me!

I am so sorry that your mom said that to you. She sounds jealous of you. You are certainly NOT a "hatchet face" -- it's ridiculous.

Why did you even invite her? Some people just aren't worth the energy, regardless of shared DNA.
