1 week post op, I'm starving!
I am 1 week post op and I am starving. My doctor gave me the okay for shakes and other low cal beverages. I am supposed to remain in that stage for 2 weeks which is my next appointment. I noticed that I can have protien soup so I ordered some from amazon and put a rush on it. Meanwhile I was wondering would a mashed up egg or maybe a spoon full of tuna kill me. I want to do the right thing. I want my stomach to heal properly but I feel like my doc is much too strict. I see where others are having jello, apple sauce and other soft foods. Please save me from myself.
Food plans and phase advancements vary from surgeon to surgeon. Your surgeon may be on the more conservative side, as was mine. They give us these rules to follow because they believe that way is best for their patients.
You're just going to have to do your best with the plan you have.
You don't want to advance too early and cause problems for yourself. You might be fine if you had some egg or tuna, but why chance it?

I am also 1 week post op and have now started on cream soup, cream of wheat, oatmeal yogurt and even cottage cheese. My issue is knowing WHEN and how OFTEN to eat. The first few days I wasn't necessarily hungry while I was still in the clear fluids but it was a dream to have a couple of teaspoons of cottage cheese after not eating soft so long.
I'm 6 months post-op and totally remember those first days. That first month or two is more emotionally brutal than anything I've experienced. Just stick to your prescribed diet and talk to people about how you're feeling. It helps. And know that in a couple of months, all will be okay and this moment in time will be a distant memory. Best of luck to you :)
Im also 1 week post op and am on a full liqiud diet till tuesday the 23rd. Im limited to sf popsickles, sf pudding, cream soups, broth, water and other sf drinks. It is by far the hardest thing ive ever done. Although a friend told me the other day that food is just a mind game. Put it into perspective. I thiught i was starving too but in all reality our new pouches can only handle a few tablespoons at a time. If you sip, sip, sip you will actually be full and not hungry. What you are missing is rhe texture amd how food made you feel.
Lets get through this together. :)
If you are allowed SF Popsicles buy them. I never ate one before my surgery but they tasted wonderful after. They were refreshing, flavorful and had some substance.

I had my surgery almost 3 years ago and I remember I wasn't hungry one bit, I forgot to eat several times. I started to feel hungry about 3 months post surgery. I always followed the prescribed diet and my sister had the same surgery 2 weeks before me and felt the same. It was good to have each other to talk to...keep communication with friends/family and support on here too. Best of luck!!!
