The cost varies a lot based on all kinds of things. Some hospitals and surgeons charge more than others. The cost would also vary depending on how long the surgery took, how many nights you stayed in the hospital, etc.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I had the RNY done. Took about 45 min was only in the hospital for 1 day and I believe BEFORE insurance is was $37,000 but, after insurance my out of pocket was only $1,000. So, it's going to depend heavily on insurance. Also if you look into it MOST weight-loss surgeons will set up fair payment plans with you.
I am just a few weeks out so haven't seen all of the statements yet.... But primary surgeon fee was $6000. Secondary surgeon was $3000. At my office they always work in pairs. Anesthesiologist was $3000. And the 2 night hospital stay came to $32,000.
Insane. Thank goodness for great health insurance. Deductible had been met earlier in the year so no out of pocket for me.
