Do you think surgery is harder on those with a higher BMI? 

Well I had surgery at 351 lbs...I was home the day after, walked to the grocery store two days later, and was out with friends on day 5 and back at my office on day 7.  I had zero complications and almost no pain.  So I think it's individual.  I went into it with a super positive attitude and more excitement than trepidation and I was fortunate.  I am two weeks away from my year surgiversary and 1.6 lbs from goal.  So anything is possible if you are willing to put in the work :)  

WoW!! Congrats to you on your weight loss :****ep telling my surgeon (if approved) that I will NOT need any pain meds and he smiled @ me and said you will be an easy one then. Hmmmm I wonder what I'm in for.

I think I took the pain meds every few hours for a day or two but then I didn't need them.  I honestly had more issues with hormonal swings in the weeks after surgery.  But very little physical pain.  Mentally I was in it to win it so I just powered through I guess :)  

Congratulations DCgirl! That is truly inspirational.

I applaud your attitude. I have a high BMI and some cardio- pulmonary complications but I have put myself in the best possible position to succeed. I'm going for the gold!

I think there are a ton of other factors besides high BMI - pain tolerance, other physical limitations, lung health. It CAN be a factor but not necessarily.
