Turkey trot t-shirt pickup today!
I am so excited! Today is the first pickup for our t-shirts for a 5K turkey trot which is a "Life with Cancer" fundraiser.
This is just my second 5K charity run after MO forced me into "retirement"
I am so looking forward to it and hope to break into the 35's. I did a practice run last week and at was 35:56...so if I can get ANYWHERE into the 35s I will be so happy because I will have dropped a minute in a month.
Looking into how to make a 5K run playlist on my mp3 player. Nothing but fast songs to help me through!
For those thinking about getting into exercise, how about a 5K or 2K walk for a charity on thanksgiving day. You can be thankful because you are now thin enough to do the walk and the charity can be thankful for a bit more $$$ in its coffers.
Everyone wins, is happy, and thankful for the blessings they have.

Proud of you Karen! I am glad you walk and support a charity.
You probably walk as fast as I jog. I am typically jogging around 12:18!

Enjoy your walk and your thinness and the easier mobility it brings!

I am so proud of you for getting out there and doing it and making the holiday about something other (maybe even BETTER) than feasting.
Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks..yet at least in my family, it was all about food food and more food. I see this in some of my friends (who has the better turkey..the wife or the MIL? Why does a party of 7 (two of which are tots) need TWO freaking huge turkeys?)
So I am glad that you are doing the run and donating the pie! It will be appreciated at the shelter.
When I was alone in grad school (far from family), I often donated my time on thanksgiving day and Xmas day to the soup kitchens so the people could have a good breakfasts and dinners. Despite their hard cir****tances, the people where always so nice, happy and thankful.
Blessings to you NolaLola

I'm about the same as you in run time and surgery time! I love the app Rock my Run!. It has great free playlists upto 60 minutes. I use many of them weekly!
Does the app supply the music?
I dont have a smart phone. I have a tablet (cuz it connects to my wifi for free).
You are making me want one!! I just hate the idea of paying for data...
Tell me more about rock my run!
