i know it's normal and it doesn't bother me, although it sometimes does startle me!  I only really hear it when I'm home where it's quiet. When I do hear a bit of it, it makes me happy because I know my surgery is working!  But WHY does it happen?

It is a reaction -- by your intestine, not your pouch -- to (what is now) the first part of your intestine unexpectedly getting food/liquid that hasn't been processed by the original upper portion of the intestine (which has been bypassed).  The new first part of the intestine is accustomed to the food already being partially processed.

The amount of gurgling often decreases as time passes and your body gets used to it somewhat, and certain foods apparently are more of a "surprise" than others.

I had a TON of noise from the sleeve four years ago. It was very loud and embarrassing. Still had it all this time. So far with rny I haven't been having it nearly as much or loud. But I'm sure I will. Just waiting for it. I just hope it won't be as loud this time around. A girl can hope! Lol
