What's on your menu today, RNYers?
Sale sweaters are the *******ways used to say I was a hot person, but now that I'm skinnier I'm totally a COLD person LOL, so I know I need to find a few good layering sweaters to see me through this winter. The Library has a really old HVAC system so it is currently FREEZING in here so I'm dressing like a crazy person.

Good morning everyone!!!
I do have a few ?'s being the odd one out here. Haven't had surgery yet, but have found y'all to be the most helpful here. I read the menus daily, got some great ideas... like the lasagna bowls made with wontons. OMG they were so good. So, what are some other go to foods you have. I've read about some chocolate chick peas......what are they?? How are they made?? This weekend I plan to try to make the coolwhip froyo that Anny talks about.
Help me out folks.... I'm keeping a note pad of everything I learn here.
Carrie from DE
Hey Carrie, those chocolate chickpeas are something I buy. They're by The Good Bean. I have found bags at Homegoods, TJ Maxx, that type of store, but you can buy them on Amazon as well.
I know a lot of people roast their own chickpeas, but the one time I tried was a miserable failure and since I can get a 6oz bag at Homegoods for 3 bucks...I don't sweat it.

Good Morning Everyone! I get up five days a week at 3:50 am to go for a run. I have been doing this since the beginning of July and today when I walked outside it was raining!! The first time since I started I wasn't able to run because of the weather. That just doesn't happen in Tucson. So I am off to the gym in just a bit to do 45 min. on the elliptical and then Aqua Fit class.
My menu looks very similar to yesterday because I didn't eat it yesterday. We were out shopping and ended up grabbing some things while we were out. While we were at Costco I found little 4 oz containers of Cranberry Almond Chicken salad made with greek yogurt. They are 150 calories for the container. It comes in a package of 8 cups. I ended up eating that for dinner. It was pretty good and I like that I will be able to grab this to take to work and have on some pepper crisps.
B: premier protein, tea
S: Greek yogurt
L: Tortilla crusted tilapia/ light tarter
S: PB2 and a honeycrisp apple
D: Livesmart Meatballs (from Schwann's) and Marinara sauce
S: popcorn
Totals: 968 Calories, 91 protein, 82 carbs
Happy Thursday!
That is an awesome find at Costco! I'm a little jealous, I won't lie.
Is the tortilla crusted tilapia something you make? Can you share the recipe? I'm going to try making a fish dish sometime in the next week or so. I'd really like to try cooking some of the mild, flaky fishes to see if I can start liking some seafood.... so I'm looking for a good beginner recipe.

Tracy, I'm going to sound like a broken record, but since you've asked for advice in previous days....I'd really recommend more precise tracking.
I'm no vet, not by a long shot, but I think using something like MyFitnessPal to track your actual calorie/protein/carb intake is one way that you might find more success. You have question marks for many of your food stats and I tend to think those questions are a problem.
MFP is great because it has a huge database of foods so for most things you can just type it in and it will give you the nutrition info (it is a wiki, so sometimes you'll find mistakes in what people have entered, but generally its pretty good). You'll be able to see really quickly your intake and it might help you make adjustments. For instance, I choose to use Light and Fit Greek Yogurt with only 80 calories over a yogurt with 240 calories. For me, there just isn't enough "bang for my buck" in yogurt to spend 240 calories on it!
Just some food for thought.

I also find the recipe function super helpful on MFP. For instance on your chicken a la king you just enter your ingredients, number of servings and it spits back calories and your macros. I cook from scratch a lot so that really comes in handy.
Aaaand if the recipe is from a website you can actually just put in the URL and it will import the recipe for you!
