What Medication Options for Osteoarthritis??
I used to do Tramadol. Now i have trouble getting a doctor to prescribe any pain meds. So I do Tylenol and a heating pad. And no, it doesn't help very much.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
Before I had my knees replaced last year, I was taking Tramadol every day and Vicodin some days for the pain. Tramadol is now a Schedule 2 drug, so some doctors are reluctant to prescribe it.
Unfortunately, Tylenol rarely does anything for arthritis pain. I seriously underestimated how difficult it would be to live without NSAIDs with arthritis (I still have arthritis in several fingers and in my lower back).

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I have osteoarthritis in my hips and spine and was wondering the same thing. I know weight plays a part in my arthritis which is why I want the rny, but the scary part for me is not being able to take anything for the pain. The thought of my weight causing my arthritis to get worse scares me even more.
I have Voltaren Gel for my osteoarthritis. It's a NSAID but since it's applied topically to affected area(s) it's okay to use...won't affect the pouch.
