Two years ago yesterday
I made the best decision ever and had gastric bypass surgery. I was 265 and had constant knee and back pain on a daily basis. I was diabetic and had high cholesterol and uncontrolled high blood pressure. I would have to stop and catch my breath when I went down my basement steps. I had been obese my whole life and didn't really realize how much I had stopped doing because if my weight. For instance we no longer went bowling or camping or boating because it was too hard for me to get around. Now two years later my blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol are all normal and I am down 145 pounds, which I lost in less than nine months. I can buy clothes in any store and look good in them. I go bowling and swimming now too. Even though I have saggy skin I am so happy that I had my surgery and now lead a healthy life. I still measure my food when I am at home and walk 4 miles a day with my dog. I stay away from bread, pasta and rice and weigh daily so I know just where I am at. I don't drink with my meal or for at least 30 minutes after and take my vitamins religiously. My advice to newbies is to follow your doctors plan and get ready for a wild ride.
