Clothing sizes are not actually reflective of size. They are a way to keep inventory. My grandmother was a seamstress. She used to tell me to ignore the tag, buy clothing to fit my widest point, and have it tailored if need be.

I buy vintage style clothing that is also sized much closer to vintage sizes than modern sizes. There is a huge discrepancy between the size of what I buy at Penney's versus what I buy in vintage style.

I fight badgers with spoons.

Yep - I'm 5'3, weigh 140 and curvy and I now wear a size 6.  15 years ago I was in a 10 or 12 at this weight.  Sizing is definitely bigger now but I'm not complaining - I never wore a 6 till now!!
