A meta-study that took the results from 19 studies and about 2800 participants from 1988 to 2013 has shown that people with low Vitamin D levels are twice as likely to have Schizophrenia and that 65% of people who had Schizophrenia also had low Vit D.

There have already been studies linking low Vit D to depression.

Estimates are that 30% of the global population are Vitamin D deficient and that as many as twice that may have deficient or insufficient levels, depending on how deficiency and insufficiency are defined.  Rates are higher in first world nations because of the prevalence of indoor jobs and use of sunblock products.

So... another reason to take your Vit D and have your labs checked.
