What do you do for pain, RNYers??

I use heat (heating pad, electric blanket, tub or shower) or ice, sleep, essential oils - as a first step. for headache, arthritis (joint)  or back pain.   Usually those things help.  I do have chronic pancreatitis and use muscle relaxers and Vicodan if necessary.

I find reducing stress helps.  I always try natural remedies and non-prescription first.

My program says absolutely no NSAIDS forever.. but I learned in a mandatory workshop that people do better with liquid medicines like liquid tylenol is more likely to absorb and help you.

As others have said, NSAIDS are a no-no because of the risk for problems with the old stomach, not because they don't work. My doc said to use tylenol and that if I wanted to use liquid tylenol after my first month or so (I just had surgery monday!) that it would be fine and that some of her patients feel it works better and continue to use it as their go-to for headaches etc.

I have found liquid Tylenol works the best for me.  Good luck.
