Back on Track 5 Day Pouch Test Question

Hi Melora, I just posted on this question yesterday. Sorry you didn't find it. Here are the main points I made.

Some people describe the FDPT as a crash diet and reject it as useless. I don't. I'm an enthusiastic supporter. I think it can be a great "5 day Restarter Plan" for those of us who have gotten off track and are serious about getting back to basics. FDPT is not for everybody, but it can be a valuable tool to quick-start motivation and commitment, especially for those of us who have been eating too many carbs and not following the basics. It really helped me to get BACK TO BASICS, to overcome the carb cravings, to feel the tightness of my pouch, and to get motivated and back on track with hi protein-low carb eating; drinking water, except for 30 minutes before and after eating; and exercising 45-60 minutes every day. I don't think it claims to shrink the pouch, only to get you to feel the pouch tightness and use it as a tool again!

I followed the plan the last 5 days of June and have been strictly back to basics with diet, exercise, reading the boards at OH and MFP and diary keeping with MFP every day since. I've dropped 6 pounds since June 26, but more important, I've regained my commitment and motivation and overcome the craving for carbs. For me it worked to get back on track with the basic plan for weight loss and I plan to keep it up. Best of luck to you. We can do it!

Thanks to all for the information and thoughts.  I honestly have seen posts for years but never read any of them on the subject because I thought it was a test that surgeons had their patients do post-op to check for leaks.

I will consider all the pros and cons and decide if it would be a useful tool for me or not.

No surgeon or doctor has anything to do with the five day pouch test. Just some internet person.

Try my Five Day Ribeye plan. Eat nothing but ribeye for five days. You'll get plenty of protein, you'll feel full and satiated, and detoxed from carbs. As an added bonus, the natural fats will make your coat nice and glossy.

Soon everyone will be doing the FDR plan.
