Can't stand protein powder

I too had magor changes in my tastebuds.. Used to LOVE water, now I cannot stand the taste of it.. even BOTTLED.. I found MIO with ENERGY to be very helpful.. they have no calorie versions too, but the regular on is only like 10 cal so no big difference. VITAMINS and all suplements are a MUST have... water essential.. because that is contributing to the feeling you describe.. slight dehydration is awful.. so the day by day losing of your body fluids with out replacing.. makes your heart and body work so much harder, it can also stall any weight loss. I was super nauseated after my surgery, but used a ginger "aroma therapy" stick, and some sublingual meds to help, it did resolve. Energy, magically appears on its own. I worried so much I would TANK at work.. I am a nurse on a busy TCU.. so wimpiness NOT an option., I was scared, asked people on here about it. I got the SAME answers you did, stick to it,, it DOES get better. Take it day by day. I remember I almost passed out in the shower in the early stages too.. I HAD to make myself drink fluids. WHatever you have to do to get it in, Now I just have 4 water bottles in my fridge, I know I have to get thru those by 6 p.m. It is my own way of tracking, making sure I am getting in my water.. I take Multivitamin, Biotin for hair skin and nails.. which has been AMAZING for preventing hair loss.. I am 45, so I dont need to lose any hair! I also take B12, Citracal Multivitamins with breakfast, citracal with lunch, multivitamin with supper, and citracal with bedtime... It splits them apart far enough, so they dont cancel each other out. Good luck.. it WILL get better....

Thank you for your encouragement.  I'm going to do my best to get all the fluids in and c if that helps.  This feeling is terrible and my husband has to go back to work tomorrow. I made myself cream of wheat this morning and was exhausted til I did that and very lightheaded.

Sounds like dehydration got the best of you. My nurse at the hospital gave me a small medicene cup, it holds about an 0z. and said to drink one every 15 minutes... if you can stand to do that. DO you have sugarfree popsicles? I found EDY's outshine juice and veggie bars to be tolerable, less sugar, and you dont taste any veggies.. lol just not as sweet. I couldnt stand anything too sweet for about 6 weeks after surgery, which made protein shakes IMPOSSIBLE to keep down. I worked really hard at getting protein without it. I do OK now. But there are still days I get the foamies if I eat something my pouch dont like, and just like a toddler, my tastebuds are constantly changing. What you love this week.. may not work next week. FYI.. Wendys Chili.. if you can get it... purees very nicely while maintaining good flavor, and packed full of good stuff. My Surgeon recommended ti to me, when I got to "full liquids" I had it.. I was FINALLY able to feel like something gave me energy!.. good luck.. Crystal light was my BFF until I found MIO, now I drink that because it doesnt have Apsartame in it. Anyways.. good luck, take things slow.. my hubby was only home with me for a few days too.. just know that your body went through alot.. and it takes a while to get back into the routine of things.. dont push yourself.. I took all day to do my dishes and minor cleaning.. I had to rest alot between tasks. and took naps.. I am not a nap taker, I usually work days, and I am pretty hectic at my job. so that was a huge change.. but I took advice form the vets on here. and listened to my body... you will also get the stalls at a few weeks out, that is normal also.. it starts again.. trust me, then it is all down hill from there.. so to speak.. good luck again..

I did and asked my Dr if I could do milk instead. She said yes if I drank a 1/2 gallon a day. I did and it counts as fluids and protein.
