5.5 years out-- had my son 8 months ago-- gained 40 pounds during pregnancy--HELP
I gained 40 pounds during my pregnancy. I got pregnant at 167 delivered at 207. I was devistated I went over 200 pounds. Initially after I had my son I lost 20 pounds and got down to 187. My son is almost 8 months old and I'm stuck at 190 pounds and fear if I don't get this figured out In going to continue to head in the wrong direction. :( I'm now realizing my real issue with food is back. I cannot trust it. My weight is beyond out of control. I try to make healthy choices but it seems as soon as I wake up in the morning it's bad choice after bad choice in excess. I keep eating because I'm upset at my original choice.i believe I eat out of boredom. I'm to the point at 190 pounds that I cannot look in the mirror. I'm thankful I'm at the end of pumping so I can indulge in diet pills and eliminating food from my life. I did not have gastric bypass surgery 5.5 years ago to fail now. I've got to figure this out!!
Congrats on the new baby!! I had my RNY a month after you. You have to believe you are worth the effort to lose the weight and keep it off. It is hard work. Forgive yourself and move on from here. Only you can decide to make the right choices.
Track your food. Perhaps you should plan your menu for the day and only allow yourself to eat what you have on your menu. Weigh and measure everything. Make sure you are getting enough sleep. You can do this.
Good luck.

Hugs.., you got a healthy baby.. Awesome!!
As for the weight - you know wehast you need to do. Protein first. At every meal. Then non straschy veggies.
When I try to lose weight - (like now - need to lose 10 lbs fast then another 10 lbs ) I trtyh tyo make sure I have lots of goodf food choices in the house plus lots of drink choices + "free food" (almost 0 calorie food I can snack on if needed)
BTW - I already lost 2 lbs so I guess it is working.
First I eliminated sugar, even fruits, and starches, but increased proteins and fat (yes- fat) in my diet and did not limit qty of food. I ate when I was hungry - ASD much ad my pouch allowed. But I concentrated on whole foods: meat, eggs, fish, non starchy (green) veggies.
Once I "detixed " from carbs - I noticed that I was no longer "hungry" and was able to limit qty of food I was eating and how often I needed to eat. Now I eat 3-4 times as day - or more if I need to. But I limit my portions (pouch dictates) plus I try to make sure I drink enough water - tea in bewteen . check Back On Track Together group for ideas what some of us eat. Andf for support.

Congratulations! Diet pills are not the answer! You have to trust your pouch and make healthy choices. You can do this if you can take diet pills! You have a better tool to use--your pouch! Just trust it! Go back to your proteins and water and small meals like the diet you plan on going on with your diet pills. You've got this! I believe in you! You just had a baby! Give yourself a break! You and your husband just created a wonderful new life and your body has been through an ordeal to get that life here! You have not failed at anything!

Try getting the unhealthy choices out of the house and stocking your kitchen with healthy stuff.
If you are eating out of boredom, it's time to find some hobbies.

You do not need diet pills! Like all the other responses, protein first and cut out the carbs, it's not easy, but you have to decide how bad you want it. Your pouch will still work. You just have to follow the plan and seriously use myfitnesspal to track everything you eat. That alone will make a big difference when you can actually see how much you are consuming. At this stage in the game, it's all about calories. I'm not sure where you are with your calories now, but if you weigh 190 - I would try 1400 calories a day and you should start seeing the scale move. Drink a TON of water and make sure you are not drinking with your meals or for at least 30 minutes after. You can do this, it sounds like you really want it.
I know how you feel! After I had my baby i had a huge struggle with food and my weight (I'm 7 years out). It's taken me awhile to get to the point of wanting to lose the weight. Recently, I have been getting into a good routine of going to the gym and eating. Like everyone has said protein first!i notice if I have some carbs like cereal first thing in the morning it sets a tone for the rest of my day, I tend to want to eat the rest of the day. I try to get in 80-100 grams of protein and stay under 70 grams of carbs (healthy ones) and I stay around 1000 to 1100 calories. Drink water!!!!! Cut out soda if you drink it and I have added a protein shake to my daily meals. Make sure too that you are not drinking with your meals. Since I have been reaching those numbers I don't feel hungry all the time and I am eating a lot less. It is a slow process, for me anyways, but I'm noticing my skin is getting more saggy and my muscles are becoming more defined. Don't give up! We just need a reminded every now and then.
