Love my RNY

Hi gang!  I am 2 months and 5 days post op!  I am down 40 lbs from my pre-surgery weight. I love my RNY!  I love it!  Love it! Love it!  I love that I can eat less, feel satisified, work out, and lose weight!  Previously, I would eat less, be hungry, be tired and grouchy, work out, and NOT lose weight (maybe even gain).

Newbies and pre-op people, if you are on the fence about WLS don't waste years trying the "old fashioned way" like I did to get little to know results. If you KNOW that you are following your diet and working out and see little to no improvement on the scales why waste more time and effort for nominal output!

I love my tool!  I lvoe how I feel, and I am starting to like the way I look in the mirror!

I feel the same way.  It's great to finally lose weight easily and be satisfied with so much less!  Good for you.  It only gets better!

OMG!  Dory!  I saw your stats! You are JUST 1 lb away from goal!  Congrats to you!  What are you going to do to celebrate? A new outfit, a trip to the nail or hair salon!  You MUST treat/pamper yourself in a non-food way!

Congrats to you!

Thanks!  My husband joked that we have to go to dinner to celebrate (always our choice in the past, of course).  As a matter of fact, I kept revising my goal weight down but actually thought I looked better a few pounds higher.  I just posted asking for suggestions to slow/stop weight loss, as I'm in a size 8 now and they're getting loose.  I thought I looked best in a size 10, but now my face is getting more and more drawn.  It's a WEIRD place to be in.  I never thought I wouldn't want to see the scale go down

Thanks for your encouragement and sharing in my success.  WLS has been a wonderful thing in my life and it's great to share with other people who know the frustration of battling your weight for a lifetime and feeling like a failure.

Have a great day!

I can almost "feel" your excitement-- kinda wishing there was a rewind button to start the honeymoon period over again.  The farther out I get, the more worries about maintenance challenges. Onward.

Awww. i know that the honeymoon doesnt last forever. How are you dealing with maintainence?  What works (aside from small portions of good nutrition and exercise)?  What i mean is, are you have to do crazy high impact cardio to make difference, or are you still at the walking and or water aerobic level.

When I work out, I like to throw in classes that I rarely do about 1-2 times a week to confuse my body. I can easily walk, elliptical, and do step aerobics. But if I do something like tae bo, total body combat, jungshin (i.e. a slower version of taebo kicking with whacking away wiht a sword), my body will be sore (in a good way) for at least 2 days after. If I do these things, I seem to have a better physical response than having my body become habituated to the same exercise over and over.

Are you still following a protein forward diet?  Right now, I have no choice put to be low fat, no sugar, diet becasue I will spend so much time in the bathroom.

I worry about maintainence too. But it is still like 80 lbs away from my dream weight!  I want 100% EWL like SINKIM and ****rogirl!

Yay! RNY!

Yes, the honeymoon does indeed last forever. I'll be two years post-op RNY on 3/20/14 and I'm 230lbs lighter than I was on 3/20/12.  I'd like to still lose another 10-20, but I still look in the mirror with amazement. I eat anything I like - in smaller quantities - My only rule is 100G protein/day and 5 trip/week to the Gym.  As a middle aged guy who struggled fitting into 60" waist pants, let me say that my RNY and working out are the most wonderful things in the world. Cardio, weight training, running, its all good. My advise would be to not to dwell too much about diets. Try to get enough protein, with a moderate intake of calories, and start working out. Get your heart rate to .7(220-age) for 15 minutes a day. Enjoy your new life.

Cheers,

Bob

Couldn't function before, now can do most anything. Will the honeymoon continue as long as I draw breath? F*ck yeah.
