1. Clothes shopping can be fun! Before surgery my husband literally had to go with me to get me to buy anything.

2. Exercise gives me more energy. And I love it!!

Awesome! I'll add that it's great to not have to stress about sitting at a booth or a table at a restaurant...I still find myself almost having a panic attack when the host says "We have a booth. Is that ok?" And then I remember...yes! That's more than ok!!!

Love your post! I agree with every single one you said and just wanted to add a couple of mine...

1. Being called "skinny" by co workers and told by my Mom that I should stop losing weight now I have lost enough (ha ha not happening)

2. Not being discriminated against anymore by strangers because I was obese, now strangers hold the door open for me to the coffee shop, mall etc and being asked if the sales person at a clothing store can "help me" when I used to walk into a store before I was just ignored

3. Co workers who are jealous and being *****y now because I am losing weight and getting healthy.  These are the same people who are slim and were my buddies/friends when I was fat

4. My engagement and wedding rings fitting now (have not worn them in 10 years because they didn't fit)

5. My menstrual pads are too big. I used to buy the extra large/extra long ones to "cover" and now its too big, they ride way up my butt LOL LOL

6. Lost ALL my PMS symptoms. I used to be a PMS Monster and got every symptom known to man, now none!  Periods are a dream now, no symptoms, light flow and only last a few days

7. How the heck do taste buds change! Pre surgery I was addicted to sugar and chocolate.  Now all I want is savory and spicy and the thought of sugar makes my skin crawl, its beyond amazing!

8. I had no idea I was capable of having this much energy.  I sleep better, I come home from an 8 hour work day and two hour commute and have energy to walk my dog, make dinner, tidy the house, do a load of laundry if needed and watch a TV show or two before going to bed.  Pre surgery it was on the drive home, grab take out, wolf it down and then veg on the couch in front of the TV and usually fall asleep early in the evening and wake up the next day still tired

9. Having a social life.  I love going out, I love to laugh but pre surgery I was either too tired or too embarrassed or ashamed of my size to go out.  Can't tell you the amount of social events I have missed out on over the years because I would end up as a hot crying mess on my bedroom floor because nothing fit, nothing looked good on me, I didn't want these family or old friends who knew me before I became obese to see me so huge, it was devastating.  I often cancelled last minute or sent my husband alone.  Now I go to everything that I get invited too, I feel alive again and am really enjoying this part of the weight loss

10.  Goodwill and Value Village and clothing swaps become your best friends.  I am losing inches like crazy!!!  Every 2-3 weeks I have gone down a clothing size.  I am using Goodwill/clothing swaps to get smaller clothes that aren't expensive because I will need a new size again in 2-3 weeks. Its just mind blowing!!

I'd kind of love to learn that one. I really can't run. I can walk for hours, but run? MAYBE 30 seconds.

Loved all the comments and can relate to many! One thing I am enjoying now is being able to reach my feet again so that I can put lotion on them!

1. I didn't know that so many people thought I must have felt like crap when I was obese ... because everyone says, "I bet you feel better!" or "Don't you feel so much better?"

2. I did not know that there was very little weight difference between sizes in the "normal stores."  I have gone from a 12 to an 8 in like 15 pounds.

3. I did not believe that I could actually be friends with people and do non-food activities like going to the gym and enjoy it.

4. I did not know that I could actually go into a store and find so MUCH that I like that I had to leave stuff behind.

I could go on.... :-)
