What if my goal is still "overweight"?

Actually, I think that IS probably how my surgeon came up with that number. But why wouldn't that also be the ultimate goal?

I am 5'2" and my surgeon's goal is 136.  It took well over a year to get there then I stopped at 128.  My surgeon encouraged me to drop another ten or even twenty pounds just to have a cushion for bounceback.

I stayed at 128 for about a year and bounced back to 142.  I never did anything to stop losing and maintained like magic for that year.  After the bounceback, is a struggle to keep at 136.

This thread is so interesting in how different goals are for each of us.  I think mine was selected by the high end of my normal BMI.

Ask your doctor what that "goal weight" is based on. My doctor gives us a "goal weight" at our 3 month check up that isn't really a goal weight. It's 75% EWL which is what they consider a success. Mine was 156 but that was not an acceptable goal for ME. I far surpassed that goal pretty easily by sticking to plan. I was also told our body will stop when it's ready so I was waiting for it to stop any time after that 156 and it stopped at 107 I'm back up to 110 now and I am happy here. I think we all have our own idea of happy. It may be health related, it may be size related, it may be having more energy, whatever your happy is, find it and don't worry what number is on the scale when you get there!
