Anyone know anything about restless legs and/or muscle spasms?
Uggghhhhhhh RLS suckssssss !! I can't give you any advice on it being a deficiency or anything like that, like some of the other posters stated.... I just wanted to add that (even before surgery), if I took too much tylenol om (or advil pm), the RLS would come with a vengeance !! Hope you get some relief soon ;)

VERY interestong about the Tylenol/Advil PM! I actually have been taking either the Tylenol PM (for achy knees since I haven't been taking the Vicodin or Tramadol) and I have been taking the plain diphenhydramine to help with sleep for a couple of months (to avoid the Lunesta, Resoril, etc.).
Hmm...

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Yeah... it makes me miserable !! Because I get sooooo tired after I take them, but my legs won't let me sleep.... it's torture !!!

Great advice already given......one more that worked for my RLS
Put a bar of soap - not dove or dial - between your mattress cover and the fitted bed sheet - in the general area where your legs rest at night......sounds ridiculous....but it has worked for me the past 2 years....as a bonus, it has also helped bursitis in my hip
This is a remedy from Dr Gott......he writes in several newspapers

Hi Lora - I too have suffered with RLS for years now. I have tried quinine water and magnesium supplements to no avail. Believe it or not the bar of soap under your bottom sheet is worth trying - I found it seemed to ward off the spasms and twitching. Make sure to use a cheap bar of soap, such as Dial. The only other thing that has helped me is when it starts to just get out of bed and walk around. Sometimes this will stop it. Also a trick is to stand against a wall and slide down the wall bending your knees as if you are going to sit down. However this may be harder for you as you have had knee replacements. The spasming and twitching is sometimes enough to drive me insane! Good Luck!
Hey, I'm wiling to at least TRY the wall thing to see how my knees do with it (well, once this sub-zero weather passes and they stop hurting ). Sometimes walking around helps, but many times it doesn't. Nothing like walking in circles (Or riding a recumbent bike****il you THINK it has passed and then have it start again as soon as you climb back into bed and start to relax!! Grrr!

My good friend with RLS said she does not have the other issues that you shared in your post and asked if you had been referred to a neurologist. If not yet, you may want to ask your PCP for a referral based on things her doctor asked her about when she first went in on that issue.
Sounds awful--anything that keeps me from sleeping is automatically on my 'UGH' list. I am no good when I am tired!!
Here is to hoping for some answers!
