WAY OT! MY DOG ATE CHOCOLATE!!!

I am so scared...what will happen? What can I do? My dog ate a 1/2 of Little Debbie chocolate cake that was in the top of the trash!. My dayghter ran in to tell me, "the dog is going to die, he ate the chocolate:. She is four and we taught her that it can make him very sick and kill him. So, what do I do...it happened about 10 minutes ago! Thanks!

Was it a whole cake..or just half of one of those small little debbie portions??? If it was only a couple of bites...the dog will likely be ok..if more...or a true half of a WHOLE cake..get the dog to the vets..or vet emergency clinic PRONTO and see if they can get it to throw up or do other emergency measures. No matter WHAT..CALL YOUR VET!!!!!!!! NOW!!!! Sher'

I think it depends on the weight of the dog. Call Poison Control or the vet. I have heard giving the dog milk can help (but I am not a vet or anything) you need to call. Good luck Laura

Your dog would have had to eat WAY more than that much choc. to die. Don't worry about it. My brother's dog once ate 12 boxes of thin mints (My nieces are girl scouts) and lived. Just keep a close eye on the dog for the next 12 hours or so. If anything is gonna happen it will happen then. Jane

I seriously doubt there is much real chocolate in anything made by Little Debbie, and most dogs just vomit if they eat chocolate and it doesn't agree with them. What size dog do you have, if its a medium or larger dog I am sure nothing is going to happen.

relax, the dog will be ok.. might have a little diarrea but should not be to bad, dogs eat lots of strange things and a little debbie will not kill the dog,

I have two dachshunds and you would not believe what they get into and eat! Your dog will be sick if it ate too much. Vomiting and loose stools as chocolate does not agree with them - they dump on it! Keep an eye on him and if it gets severe call your vet. On the lighter side - I glad to see the snack cake was in the trash. That would have never happened here before I had WLS. Good Luck, Lori

i have a very fat dalmation and she got in to a herseys bars and ate 3 big one and nothing happened i,d gave her some cooking oil to coat her tummy and she was fine i think 1/2 of a little debbies is not going to hurt at least not my garbage gut saydee good luck kelly

Call the vet - you'll probably have to give him raw egg or something to make him throw up-depends on his age and weight but it may be ok.

My 5 pound chihuahua can tolerate more than that on any given day . He usually has part of whatever I am eating. Your dog will be fine. Don'T get caught up with the emergency vet bill at the $250.00 a whack. I paid that least week when one of my chi chi's decided to dine on a piece of a limb from the backyard. They didnt do a thing, passed on its own.
