Just to add my two cents...
My surgeon requires everyone to sign a document stating that they will have an abortion if they get pregnant within 18 months of their WLS. Becoming pregnant so early out may be harmful to both the baby and the mother. This document protects the surgeon from litigation.
That being said, it is not our place to judge or preach. She asked a simple question and it was answered.

Wow. I have no desire to have another child but I would have been offended at being told I needed to sign something like that in order to have WLS. I would have found another surgeon. I am pro-choice. That means I believe it's my choice whether or not to have an abortion, not my bariatric surgeon's choice. Even if someone has signed such a document, though, there would be no legal way to enforce it.

Right - he said it's not something that he would ever enforce. He explained that unfortunately, it's what's needed to protect from litigation. If you become pregnant, he would send a letter to you advising abortion, but the choice is up to you, of course.
