Today was my 4 week check up with the surgeons office.

They were please with my weight loss so far (I.e. 20 lbs).

I discussed with them the increased menses since RNY (i.e. 3 periods in 4 weeks).

Apparently, menses after RNY frequently becomes irregular unless one is on birth control.

RNY Surgery: 12/31/2013;

Current weight (2/27/2015) 139lbs, ~14% body fat

I was using the Mirena IUD up until the middle of December. I have been using that method since 2004 and I haven't had a real period except for the occasional spotting once or twice a year. I ended up having my first period a few days after surgery. Although my period so far is somewhat "regular", I can't really compare due to my cir****tances of my IUD expelling so I am most likely dealing with my body adjusting without the extra progesterone.

Keep an eye on your iron!

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.

I posted about this very same thing the other day.  From my post, I gathered the information that this is "normal" and it may be irregular for up to a year.

I am on birth control though.  I've tried 2 different kinds since my RNY 5 months ago.

Hang in there!  Some of us are right there with you!
