OMG...I am so getting these for the office!

Ok, ok...I won't. Probably not, anyway. But that did make for some really entertaining review reading. Thank you!

Sugar alcohols can cause discomfort/ diarrhea/ nausea in people without RNY, so while it's probably not considered dumping, it still sucks!!

Most SF candies sold use Maltilol for a sweetner. It is one of many sugar alcohols available. There are also xylitol , erythritol, sorbitol...and other "ols" I can't remember. I can consume xylitol in small amounts, even post RNY ( I use it for baking ).  Even pre-op, Maltilol gave me baaaaaad gas and stomach cramps. I haven't even attempted to eat SF candies since my surgery,  I'm too afraid of the results.

Hope you feel better soon!!

Edited to fix all my dopey typos.

Yes, even before surgery if I had even just one piece of Orbit gum, I'd get awful cramping, bloating and diarrhea!

Thank you everyone! I will not be eating it again! They didn't agree with me at all! I remember a while back I had SF peanut bitter cups, and I had the same reaction, but for some reason I didn't put two and two together. I dot eat those anymore either.

I can relate to this. If and when I ocasionally eat a sweet that IS ALWAYS sugar free, I usually get the dumping syndrome effects. I think in MY case it is because it usually has more carbs than my regular daily foods. I believe that carbs, in excess can cause dumping as well..
