Clear Liquids? swanson infused broths
Hi guys,
I have a question. I am on the clear liquid post opp phase.
I am supposed to be having only clear liquids.
My question is...how clear is clear?
For example, a list of approved foods is clear broths.
I have swanson flavor infused chicken tortilla. It is clear about to about 1/4 of an inch (i.e. I can see the bottom of the cup at about 1/4 inch). If I fill the cup up the whole way I cant see through it. I can see through a full glasses of welches white grape juice.
So asre those swansoninfused thigns clear?
I would ask my nut..but it is friday night and I imagine she ins not there.
Thanks for yoru answers. If it is not..then I will stick to jello and juice.

Is it the consistency of water? Are there any chunks of anything in it? If it is the consistency of water and has no chunks then I would consider it a clear liquid.

Typically if you can see through it at room temperature it is considered to be a clear liquid.
I'm not familiar with the infused broths, but I would check the fat content because I believe the idea is the clear liquid should be fat-free and not cause residuals in the digestive tract.
Here's info from NIH.gov
You can eat or drink only the things you can see through. Clear fruit juices are okay, but juice with nectar or pulp are NOT okay. Milk is also NOT okay. You can have these clear liquids: Plain water Fruit juices without pulp, such as grape juice, filtered apple juice, and cranberry juice Soup broth (bouillon or consommé) Clear sodas, such as ginger ale and Sprite Gelatin (Jell-O) Popsicles that do not have bits of fruit or fruit pulp in them Tea or coffee with no cream or milk added Sports drinksOk! Thanks guys for the leads..especially the fat content!
I think I shall play it safe rather than sorry and just not have anymore (i had a mug at dinner).
It is tasty ...too tasty to be medically prescribed ;) (I am making a joke).
But seriously, I dont want him to cut me and have some...residue/poop fall out. eww... I can just hear the sepsis coming on.
So. I will jsut freeze the rest untill a better time comes.
Also..I typed.."post op" but I meant pre-op.
Thanks.
Keep me in your prayers on 12/30. I have a 12/31 9:45 surgery time. Yay! I am happy excited. The only thing that makes me more happy and excited is lookign at wedding bouquets.

He's going to be cutting your stomach and the upper part of your small intestine. You won't have any poop there. Any poop would be in your large intestine and he won't be cutting that.

Are you allowed juices, pre-op? They were specifically forbidden on my pre-op plan and the people I know who had the surgery elsewhere, too.
