Miserable...

I'm six weeks out and I have my first cold in over two yearsno yuck. I ended up giving in and went to the doctors thinking it was just a cold and will be told to rest and up my fluids, instead, I was told I have an infection, and he gave me an inhaler and some antibiotics. It seems after my surgery I'm at the doctors every week for one thing or another. Soon after surgery, I had a wound infection with five days of antibiotics. Two weeks later I was dehydrated and found to have an ulcer. That meant being admitted again, this time for 8 days. It's hard enough to take all the pills, never mind adding another one and I HATE TAKING MEDICINE!!! I still have abdominal discomfort and my legs hurt, especially when I walk too much. I'm lucky I tolerate most things that are on my plan and eat with no problems. I know things will get better but, all these little niggles are frustrating and are probably slowing me down. Good thing I don't let things get me down or else I'll be regretting this surgery right now.

RANT OVER!!!

I'm so sorry to hear you're having such difficulties! I guess I can't do much except be a cheerleader and tell you that it WILL get better! It must be very frustrating, but keep plugging away and don't give up. You can do it, and the end results will all be worth it!

Thanks for the support Pam. I too hope it gets better soon as the reason I did this whole surgery was to have a "normal" life and enjoy it.

Did you continue to do the breathing exercises 10 times a day at home after discharge? We (DH and I) were warned at each of the hospitals we used that if you did not use the device (Inspirometer? ) that lung infections were very likely post-op.  Are they having you go back on the breathing device during your treatment?

I am so sorry you've been hit by one thing and then another and hope you are fully healed very soon!

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

Sorry you don't feel well.  Next summer when you have lost a bunch, this will be a distant memory.  God bless
