I haven't been on here in a very long time, but can't remember why after RNY we are not suppose to take medication in capsule form.  Is it due to the inability to dissolve the capsule itself or does it pass through too quickly?

There is no reason we should not take medication in capsule form after RNY.  Most capsules are made of gelatin, just like Jello, and dissolve very quickly and easily in the pouch and small intestine.

My understanding was just no extended release, but other meds in tab or capsule form were fine.

The one thing I'll add is that if it oil based in a capsule, like Vitamin D2, that won't be absorbed well enough and you'd instead need dry D3. But without knowing what you are referencing specifically, I don't know if my 2 cents helps or not. :)

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
