OT: a sister for Gus in January
Because of my knee surgery, I had to pass on one of the Scottie puppies that were going to be ready to come home the week before Christmas -- I just knew I wouldn't be up to caring for a feisty terrier puppy at only 6 weeks out -- but I now have first pick of one of the 4 girls from a litter just born 5 days ago (and ready to come home January 18th)!
So Gus is going to get a little sister. I have had a Scottish Terrier in the house almost continuously since 1974, and had to put Max down the week I got Gus in January, so it has been almost a year without one and, even with Gus around, the house feels incomplete without a Scottie in it!

Lora, I am so happy for you! I know. I, too, am off to see a surgeon for a consult on my knees....first time. So I look forward to your updates on your progress with your procedure. Best if luck and healing prayers for you! I am so excited about Gus getting a little sister! I have always had English Springers and can't imagine being without one as my shadow!

That is fantastic! Love a sweet little McTavish...which is what I love as a Scottie name! :)

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way. Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
My first personal (not parents') Scottie was McTavish! He was a great dog. He had an excellent mix of Scottie instincts (chasing, digging (he would "help" me in the garden, LOL), etc.) and domestication (slept curled up with me, loved to have his belly rubbed, etc.) He could also "aroo"... A form of Scottie talking that only a few ever do.
This will be the first female we have ever had, so it will be a new adventure! Right now the front-running names are Maggie and Molly. All female Scottish name suggestions are welcome!
i cannot figure out any way to post pics using my iPad, so will post them once I dig my laptop back out.

In my area, you can't swing your arms in a circle at the dog park without hitting a Molly, so from that perspective alone, I'd go with Maggie. What about Mackenzie? GREAT girl dog name!

That is wonderful! I'm sure Gus will love having a little sister. I always enjoy having "sets" of pets because I think they are just happier, especially when you're at work.
Molly and Maggie are cute names. I have a friend from Scotland and her name is Ranny, short for Moirannya; I always thought those would be cute names, too.
Looking forward to seeing pics of the little beauty.
No, I haven't seen it, but will definitely look for it!
It takes a special kind of person to appreciate the terrier personality, LOL, but once you're hooked, you're apparently hooked for life! I thought that, by almost a year after having to put Max down, I would have adjusted to life with just a Chow (and visiting my mom's Scottie every week or so), but I still miss having that terrier personality around!
