Itchy skin and vitamin deficiency

For the past few weeks I have been itchy.  I have no allergies that I know of and haven't tried any new products.  My scalp, neck, and back seem to be the worst.  I am going to try a different shampoo to see if that helps, but I also itch on other parts of my body.  I am 2.5 yrs out from surgery.

Has anyone heard of a vitamin deficiency  that causes itchy skin?

Thank you, I am trying to explore all possibilities.

It's not a vitamin, but lack of fat in the diet can do it.

Of vitamin A deficiency.

Sometimes it is just layers of dry skin that can be removed with exfoliation.  Try an exfoliating soap, I use one from Dove.  Run a dry bath brush over your skin before your bath or shower to loosen the outer layer of dry skin.  Rinse hair with a cup of water to which a tablespoon of cider vinegar is added.

When itching started for me a few months after surgery, it was mostly on my thighs.  I wanted to scratch until the skin was raw.  Creams and lotions made it worse.  Exfoliating cleared it right up.

Elevated liver enzymes often cause an itch, too. Have you been taking tylenol? Alcohol?

one of the many symptoms of iron deficiency (anemia or just deficiency) is puritis (itching).

Also, depending on where you are, it's dry skin season. I know when I don't get enough water (which is pretty much always), I end up dry and itchy like crazy!

It could be a vitamin B deficiency. There are several kinds of vitamin B, I forget which one right now.  Normally, the stomach secretes something called intrinsic factor that helps to absorb this vitamin, but surgery can disrupt the secretion of thisbecause some of the stomach is removed and then the body will need some vitamin supplementation.
