I just want to eat at night
During the day, I'm still not interested in food. There's just nothing I particularly want to eat, so I've been having a shake and being happy with that.
But once it's night, oh my! I want everything salty and savory. I'll try eating one bite of this (doesn't count because it's one bite) and one bite of that (doesn't count either). I know that's horrible and it does count, so I'm looking for solutions.
Last night I had a cup of broth. That worked really well, but I always retain water when I have that much salt at night and then the scale doesn't budge and I have a sad day.
Tonight, I'm trying tea and being away from the kitchen, but, while I feel fuller, I don't feel like I had my salt.
What do I do?!

Have some low sodium broth with some other seasonings so it has a lot of flavor?

I'll have to look into that. The problem may be that what I want is the salt. I don't know if that's because I'm so used to snacking this time of night or because my body wants some salt. Is that a thing? Can you be sodium-deficient?

Our bodies do need some salt, yeah. But most of us get more than enough.
Look into some of the salt substitutes like Mrs. Dash.

Stop watching TV, unless it's something like PBS. The major TV channels have 20+ food commercials PER HOUR during prime time, causing lots of head hunger. Do something else, go for a walk, clean the tile grout, do anything else but sit in front of the damn TV.
During the day you should be eating and drinking fluids, whether you want to or not. Create a meal schedule and stick to it. That is part of your protocol. You will feel better and more energetic and it will significantly reduce your urge to pig out in the evening. Getting into the habit of grazing (rather than regular meals and snacks) is one of the surest ways to gain your weight back down the road, according to many of those who have regained. Read their posts. Do you really want to go through all this and then blow it because you're not eating right?
Try exploring the recipe sections on various forums or check out The World According to Eggface Blog. Make your food more creative and tasty and it will be more enjoyable. Salt is an acquired taste, often from the prepackaged convenience foods you used to eat. Once you consciously cut back on salt, like any other habit you change, in a bit you will find salty things taste awful. If salt late in the day is making you sad, the obvious thing to do is not have any then. You're sabotaging yourself. Maybe have broth in the morning in lieu of coffee or tea. Then drink lots of water during the day.
Take good care of yourself! You deserve to be healthy and have fun!

I have scheduled my eating plan so that I pretty much eat more at night then during the day. I'm not that interested in food in the day time so I have a light breakfast and a later lunch then my dinner is usually after 7 pm and I have at least one snack after that, sometimes two. I think it's because I am pretty busy during the day and don't think about eating but at night I wind down and I can concentrate on my meal.

I do that too. I eat pretty lightly in the morning, eat more in the afternoon, and eat the most in the evening. That's when I'm hungriest.

I like Tazz set up my eating schedule to allow me to eat guilt free at night because I have room calorie wise and protein wise to eat. I have a protein shake for breakfast a small lunch (I usually am not hungry and two pieces of lunch meat fill me up), I have dinner with the family and i have a fourth "meal" later in the evening, it works for me. For salty I have a handful of popcorn with sea salt sometimes for a snack (white popcorn air popped no butter), other times I have a couple slices of ham (salty for sure but also protein), Sometimes I have a slice of summer sausage on a buttery cracker for a snack. I know you aren't as far out as some of us but you can find something that fits in your plan and works for you I'm sure. At your stage I was on a huge bacon kick! I cooked it on a plate in the microwave between two paper towels until it was crunchy dabbed off any excess grease on yet another paper towel broke it into pieces and at it like chips salty yummy protein.
