OT: Gus is getting a little sister! (w/ picture)
Well, it looks like Gus is going to get a little sister the week before Christmas!
She will be one of the little black Scottish Terrier lasses below (and is coming from the same breeder my mom got her current Scottie from 12 years ago). I will know in a couple of days whether I get 2nd or 3rd pick. The person who is currently second on the waiting list has not contacted the breeder since adding his/her name to the list, so they may no longer be interested (this breeder doesn't require a deposit to be put on the list so fairly often someone will have changed their mind or obtained a puppy somewhere else.)
They are 5 days old in this picture, so they look like little gophers. (Yes, two of them have little white spots on their chins.)
The timing isn't the best in terms of my Nov 5th knee surgery (I will only be six weeks post-op, so I will be very limited in how quickly I can jump up, grab a piddling puppy, and get her outside or rescue her from any excessively rough play by Gus), but it is pretty good in terms of me being able to take some time off (or work from home half days) around Christmas and New Year's Day so she can get potty trained and get used to the weekday routine.
I don't have a name for her yet, but am currently leading towards Maggie or Molly. Suggestions for an independent, smart, sassy, energetic Scottish lass are welcome!
Gus will be a year old by the time I get the little girl, and he is already 72 pounds, so seeing him with a 5 pound terrier puppy should be hilarious (but also will require close supervision for a while).

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Oh, they are cute! I like Maggie and Molly both for names.
We need to get Gus and Isaac together for a play date before your knee replacement. Hey, I found an indoor dog park in Huber Heights, which I think is not too terribly far from you. That sounds interesting. I want to check it out with Isaac sometime. It's a bit of a drive for us, but Isaac likes road trips and it would be fun in the winter when it's too cold for the regular dog park.

Do you have anything on your calendar for Sunday, Nov 3rd?? Gus and I could come up that morning.
(Yes, Huber Heights is close to me. I had no idea they had an indoor dog park. Cold weather isn't a problem for Gus, of course... it is the hot weather he has to stay out of!)

I have nothing on my calendar for that day but can certainly put you and Gus on it!
The indoor dog park is called Sit, Stay and Play. There is a fee, I think it is $5, to get in. It would be good in hot weather, or rain, too, of course.

Oh they are adorable !
The joy of a new life and watching your first baby learn to play with the newest addition should generate great stories and pictures !
The contrast will be so sweet.
Wish I lived closer I would come take care of you and your growing family !
Wee Las was the name of my grandmothers dog. Grandmother came to America via Ellis Island in 1917.
She was from Scotland. Had a thick accent until her passing in 1982. She was so fun and CRAZY !!
I vote for Maggie! (granted, I've got a soft spot for the name as my MIL is named Margaret, after her aunt). All those puppies are too cute!!!
