stool softener - forever?

I have beans quite often. They seem to do the trick, and are good protein. I've been concerned about carb content in them but have stopped going overboard worrying about it. I'm still having good weight loss. On another note they do not bloat ******e up now like they would pre- op.

I certainly cannot comment on 'forever' but I do take Miralax nightly and have no plans to stop in the near future. :)

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! A month after surgery, I had to stop taking stool softener because it gave me diarrhea.  Then 3 months after surgery I was constipated, so I started taking it again.  Now, at 9 months, I just try to get in ~20 g of fiber (lightly salted edamame is an awesome snack!) and that takes care of the problem for me--no pills.  Oh, and I drink all my water, too.  So I have had mixed experiences with "going."  When you are further out, you can experiment with your diet a little more.
