I'm pretty sure I remember someone asking this question before but I cannot remember what everyone's answers were... Are we able to safely take Pamprin or Midol for period relief? I tried looking up info online but nothing was totally clear on the issue. I used to take an Advil or something but I know those days are over and I haven't had painful cramps like these in years. Thanks!

No. I'm pretty sure they both have ibuprofen. I think you're pretty much stuck with Tylenol. Maybe a muscle relaxer would help? They knock me out, though.

Exactly what I take and what happens to me, too!

After looking up Pamprin, it says that it is made with Acetaminophen which you can have after RNY. It is Aspirin free. Just make sure you look at the box. Some say with Acetaminophen others says with NSAID. I also looked up Midol and I found one that is made with Acetaminophen.

The Midol Menstrual Complete Maximum Strength Caplets help you to overcome discomfort during your periods. They contain the pain reliever Acetaminophen, caffeine - a stimulant, and Pyrilamine Maleate, which is a diuretic to help you stay comfortable. These Midol pain reliever caplets combine the strength of all three compounds to relieve you of cramps, bloating, fatigue, backache and headache associated with periods.

As posted above, Pamprin and Midol both have a product now made with acetaminophen.  I have taken them both for period relief, and they both work pretty well for me.  Good luck!  Cramps suck!

Some women may have older versions of the product that contained ibuprofen in their cabinets, so read the labels carefully before taking any.  If you are unsure if a med is safe, call a pharmacy and speak with a pharmacist.

I'm so glad you posted this!  I have terrible periods and thought those were off limits!  Tylenol does nothing.
