Follow up on Insure/Protein Drinks/Vitamins
I filled out the form online for Insure to cover my protein drinks and vitamins.
After some excellent questions by the vets about this company and so on, I reached the nicest young man named Josh who answered all my questions to the max.
My primary insurance is Medicare which did not cover anything. My insurance(secondary) is Tricare for Life (my hubby is retired military) and the Loyola pharmacy in Los Angeles, CA is a legitimate compounding pharmacy who are advertising this Insure site on OH.
What the pharmacy discovered is that my insurance does NOT cover the drinks/vits but oddly enough covers a cream this pharmacy compounded for scarring/wounds for surgical patients. The pharmacy provides the drinks/vits for free monthly and ship it free of charge.
In fact, when I shared concerns with Josh about being charged for the cream and/or drinks/vits down the road if my insurance decided not to cover it, he said the pharmacy would send a written letter to me with the confirmation from my insurance, a copy of the Dr's order AND a guarantee from the pharmacy that they would NEVER charge me one penny for anything ever even if the insurance stopped covering the cream.
I checked them out as much as I could and I truly think they are legit and just finding creative ways to make money since they like everyone involved in healthy care delivery are losing tons of revenue from the confusion that is called obamacare.
I have no trouble with a company making money legitimately and honestly.
I cannot argue with the guarantees he was willing to provide me.
Unfortunately, I am lactose intolerant so these drinks would be a waste for me. I did forget to ask him the name of the bariatric vits they send but even if they aren't complete; it would be easy and less expensive to supplement them.
So, if you are so inclined, it is worth filling out the form if your doctor agrees and you are comfortable with it. It is a secure form so it is up to you.
Good luck.
Seems a good deal and they do work to get it covered for you. Very kind people to deal with. At least that was my experience. Ask for Josh, he is amazing.

Remember what your mom taught you, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
Ok, so this applies to those with Medicare and Medi-cal only. Looks like his is one of those outfits that runs a boiler room for mail orders and just bills the government so we all get to pay for the things they sell through our taxes. It's like the companies that sell those motorized gussied up wheelchairs. The are on the web as Loyola Pharmacy, but their storefront on Lincoln Blvd. is as Emerson Pharmacy. Emerson's license ended in 1986, but Loyola has a clear history with the state pharmacy board. Began as a family store in 1968 and was sold to new owners a few years ago. Online reviews indicate that store has gone down hill in quality of products and made a number of prescription mistakes since. I'm sure Josh was very nice. Boiler room sales people generally are hired for their ability to charm seniors and separate them (or the government) from their money.
One concern is that the quality of their products may not provide the nutritional support you are expecting or would get from other products. You might check the nutrition profile of the drinks you are being offered against the profiles of major brands like Unjury. If it's not the right type of protein or quantity to drink, it might not be useful to you. Similarly, with calcium, we can absorb one type after surgery, but not the other.
I do hope you've found a good deal, but please be wary as you go forward.
