Be honest with me. Will eating ever feel normal?

At first I eating/drinking felt normal. I just became full very quickly. Now eating/drinking feels more like pouring something down a funnel. The stomach doesnt feel full more than my throat can feel full (if that makes any sense). Perhaps Im feeling things way different than what they reallly are.  I feel like let me slow up because I feel the food/drink bottle necking at the top of my stomach.

I feel normal and eat normal.  If I eat more than I should it feels like it's in my esophagus not like pre-surgery when my stomach felt full.

Eating will most likely feel normal again, yes.

If you feel like food is backing up into your throat, you may be eating too quickly or not chewing well enough.  However, you might also be developing a stricture, where the opening between the pouch and small intestine gets too small and food has a hard time going through.  If you were able to eat and drink more easily before but now have this feeling with the same things you ate and drank easily before, that sounds like a possible stricture.  I would give your surgeon a call.

I see the surgeon on 10/10. I worried just a little about a stricture but Im not totally convinced. Its not like I cant get anything down its just different sensations now. I will ask anyway.

Two weeks is a long time to wait, I think.  I would call, personally.

OHHHHH unfortunately yes. I say unfortunately because maintenance is much more difficult.  The easy days are over in this stage.

I remember when I was early post op and struggling I read a post on ObesityHelp where the poster wrote how much she missed the early days post op when she could barely eat anything and how easy it was to lose weight.  When I read that I was struggling to find a protein I could tolerate.  The difficulty did not bother me because I knew it would pass.  My concern was getting adequate nutrition. But I remember thinking about her comment thinking "surely she was not talking about the same surgical procedure."   Now at  4 years post op in November, eating is back to normal - totally - other than items I no longer care for as a post op patient.  I learned very quickly what she meant in her post.

I am not sure I understand your description.  For the first year, food often sat very heavy in my pouch.  I used to say eating meat was like eating rocks...meat did not sit well. Consequently, I eat very little meat now, which for me was a good, healthy change.  I wish I understood your description.  All I can comment on is yes, food and full felt very different at first....I remember it was difficult to describe.

Im barely a month post-op yet but my body/stomach/eating is different each day. Eating chicken no matter how much I chew is very much like eating rocks so I dare not try anything as heavy. I am sticking to soft proteins like fish and crab. Eggs almost immediately wanted back up out my pounch. It is very hard to describe but I think what I first realized is "eating isnt fun anymore"! lol. It feels like the days of sitting and just plain enjoying the flavor of your food is gone.  Now its all about portions, nutrients and "listening" to your body. its become a purposeful thing. Not in the least mindless.  All of which are good things I suppose. I was just wondering if this is how it will be forever?

You sound like me. I could not eat eggs until year 2, and even now I have lost my Chase for them. Meat was next to impossible to eat. The only time I got food stuck was while eating chicken. Prior to surgery, I was almost an exclusive meat eater. I did not like vegetables. After surgery it was so difficult to eat meat because it felt so heavy in my pouch, I became a lazy eater I would reach for the vegetables first because they were easier to digest. That was a hidden blessing. Today I love vegetables and pass up the meat. My family will stop me and say "mom put some meat on your plate." I needed this change.

I stayed on full liquids throughout the puree stage. I could not even do that stage.

Go easy on yourself, it just takes time. I'm glad I couldn't eat meat. I believe it and other things contributed to me reaching my goal and being as successful as I've been.

Ignore my typos and miss or inappropriate words. I am using Siri on my iPhone, and it's much easier for me to dictate then try to prove what is typed. And it's extremely more easy for me to dictate been to type it myself. If it sounds strange ignore it. Best of luck to you

It comes and goes..  some days I eat - some days - i don't want to eat too much..

I love food most days ... some days it is  a chore.. some day I wish I could have a simple muffin or a sandwich.. or a cake..

But then I go to my fav restaurant and get a plate of tandori chicken  that smells and tastes so good.. and I eat my small portion and I am full and stay full for a few hours..

Or get some grilled shrimps .. or the salmon, or tuna...

A few nights ago we went for burgers.. they were so good.. but I was only able to eat 3/4 of just the burger (no bun) . Still - I really enjoyed the food, the taste the flavor..

I had salad and lamb... so tender..

It is still about nutrition and portion, while enjoying the food and the tastes.
