More realistic weight calculation?

Hi,
My surgeon's office gave me the site below to get an idea for ideal body weight. I like it better than BMI because it considers age.

http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm

I found it especially interesting because it showed my ideal weight to be exactly what I "felt" was a good goal for me.

See if it works for you!

Interesting thanks, the result was lower than I expected at 123 lbs

normal BMI for my height starts at 146!  Currently my BMI is 22 at 130 pounds

It also gave a range which I am in

That's strange! You looked at the first box, right? It also shows a couple of other results at the bottom which seemed really low to me.

Yes 123 was in the first box.  I will probably get close to that, just seemed low for a realistic weight to maintain.  I fully expect to regain some in a few years when my malabsortion stops. I am starting to look to thin.   I seem to be one of the lucky ones that keep losing with little effort :)

I did it again with my starting weight not my current weight and it said 172.  It must base it on losing a percentage of your extra weight.

I did it with my starting weight and it said that I should weigh 200 pounds.  It is based on what people of your height, weight and age think should be your idea weight.

I agree.  It was much lower than I expected.  Normal BMI for my height is at 164.  It had me at 140.  It didn't take into consideration build etc.  I don't think that is possible for me.  I fluctuate between 144 and 149, but I have to eat less than 1000 a day to maintain at a lower weight.  That is with me exercising everyday.  Personally I don't think that is healthy for my body type.

Our height and weights are almost identical.  That gives me hope that I may actually reach my goal.

I liked it. Mine said 156 in the first box which is 6 pounds higher than the 150 goal I had set for myself. Lol. I guess I wasn't that far off

I liked it too.  It was dead on for my goal and my surgeons goal.
