it's just a giant, giant bruise all over that hurts so bad

Aw such fond memories.  Mine was just like that.

Oh my!  I didn't have one single bruise.  Your poor tummy.  Does it hurt.  We're you on blood thinners?  I know it will dissipate in time.  I have never seen that though. 

O my goodness, why does it look like that? I had RNY laparoscopic and only

had 5 small bruises.

This, my dear, is abnormal. Open or lap this is excessive bruising.

Is this firm ? growing? Please make your surgeon aware of this bruising.

 

No, it was not open. I bruise VERY easily and the surgeon was aware of this. I had faint bruises in the hospital that you could tell were darkening. Several nurses noticed. I bruised bad (altho not like this) when I had my partial hysterectomy. It's just sore, as any bruise is. Everything is fine with my drain and today is actually the first day I have not had much drainage, even tho I did quite a bit of walking today. 

I only had minimal bruising at the lap sites. If you are concerned, you can outline it in sharpie to keep a closer eye on how much bigger/smaller it gets. It seems from others responses that they dealt with the same thing, but if I were you, I would be freaking out!

If I didn't normally bruise easily, I would be freaking out! I know everywhere that is bruised was covered with dressing the first 24 hours. and it really pulled my skin when the nurse took it all off. (the only spot I have dressing at all now is over the drain site). 

So I am thinking that a lot of the bruising is just from the dressing coming off?  My right arm where I had my picc line has a pretty nasty bruise too from the dressing that was over that. 

I look like a junky, with all my iv holes ...that just looks so bad. Hope it heals fast!
